Terms of use
Free to use
GPSDump is free of charge for personal use by hang-gliding and paragliding pilots. There are no accounts, subscriptions or in-app purchases.
No warranty
GPSDump is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose. The authors are not liable for any damage or loss arising from the use of the software — including lost or corrupted tracklogs, rejected contest claims, or data uploaded to the wrong place. Keep your own copies of flights that matter to you.
Not a navigation or safety tool
GPSDump is a data-transfer utility. It is not a certified source of airspace information and must not be used for in-flight navigation or airspace avoidance. Airspace files handled by the app come from third parties and may be incomplete, outdated or wrong — always verify against official aeronautical publications before flying.
This applies with full force to airspace downloaded from openAIP. openAIP is a community database maintained by volunteers, not a State aeronautical information service, and it offers no guarantee that its data is accurate, complete or current. GPSDump then narrows what it downloads on purpose: entries above the floor you set, and of the classes you excluded, are left out altogether, and volumes the app judges irrelevant to free flight — en-route sectors, high-floored control areas, sporting areas that are permissions rather than restrictions — are switched off by default. That is a convenience for fitting an instrument's limited airspace memory, not an aeronautical judgement. What reaches your instrument is therefore a deliberately reduced subset of an unofficial database, and checking it against official publications and current NOTAMs before you fly remains yours to do.
Third-party services
Uploads to XContest, Flightlog, XCGlobe, FAI/CIVL IGC validation, or your own servers are subject to those services' own terms. GPSDump only transmits what you ask it to transmit; you are responsible for the content of your uploads and for complying with the rules of the contest or logbook you submit to. This applies to each flight of a batch: uploading six flights in one action files six claims in your own name, and a claim a server has accepted cannot be withdrawn by GPSDump — take it up with the service.
The airspace download uses openAIP under your own free API key and is subject to openAIP's terms. GPSDump ships no key and no openAIP data. The key identifies you to openAIP: keep it to yourself, and do not pass on a settings file or a device backup containing it. openAIP enforces rate limits, and repeated bulk downloading may be refused or your key withdrawn by them. The data is licensed CC BY-NC 4.0 — the attribution "Airspace data © openAIP contributors" must travel with it wherever you show or share it, and it may not be used commercially.
